Success in the fourth edition of the Gran Fondo Cambrils Park Costa Daurada, the cycle sportive organised by the company Cycling Costa Daurada together with Cambrils Park Sport Village, and with the collaboration of the City Council and the Tourist Board of Cambrils. This year saw more than 2500 participants, many of them housed in the facilities of the Sport Village. During the departure of the sportive participated Josep Mª Recasens, Sports Councillor of the City of Cambrils, and Amèlia Rico, Director of the Tourist Board of Cambrils.
The Gran Fondo Cambrils Park Costa Daurada is a non-competitive cycling event, designed so that you can share a good day of cycling with friends and colleagues, and enjoy the best roads of the Costa Daurada. But, on the contrary, the Cronoescalada (Hill Climb Individual Time Trial) is a free race for all participants of the sportive where they compete with each other to see who is the fastest. In total, of the more than 2500 participants of the Gran Fondo Cambrils Park, a hundred cyclists wanted to enjoy the test.
The first to arrive in the classification of the Cronoescalada was Aritz Sorazu Sukia, in category M-39, with a time of 14 minutes and 14 seconds, maintaining a rhythm of 16.68 km / h. In the women's category, the first to reach the finish line was Barbara Rubio Forcada, in the F-39 category and who reached the goal with a time of 20 minutes and 16 seconds, maintaining a pace of 11.83 km/h.
Since the first edition of this march, which took place in 2014, there has been a significant increase in participation. This edition has more than 2500 participants; That is, 500 more than the 2016 and more than 1800 difference from the first edition.
Amongst the participants, a great number are national cyclists, both Catalunya and the rest of Spain; But the Gran Fondo Cambrils Park is becoming increasingly well known in the rest of Europe. Participants from France, England, Holland, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, and the Nordic countries are again present this year.
The cyclist's day ended at Cambrils Park Sport Village with a Pasta Party and the awards ceremony in the centre of the Resort, which was also attended by the Mayor of Cambrils, Camí Mendoza.
