5 reasons why you should go bicycle touring through the Costa Daurada
1. Climate: Costa Daurada has a typically Mediterranean climate, with mild temperatures in winter and warm summers with scant rainfall. Thus, cycling is a year-round activity.
2. Location: Costa Daurada is just 1h away by car or 35 minutes by high-speed train from Barcelona. Besides, there is a good public or private transportation system that connects all the towns.
3. Quantity and quality of the roads: Costa Daurada offers more than 2.000 km of perfectly-preserved roads, different steep grades for training purposes and, most importantly, roads with little traffic.
4. Gastronomy and culture: Costa Daurada’s towns and villages offer a wide variety of cultural and gastronomic diversity to satisfy everyone. The wines, its dish and seafood and the mountain’s gastronomy stand out.
5. A destination that has it all: Mediterranean Sport Village is located only 20 minutes from any of the area’s cycling routes. In addition, Costa Durada is becoming a benchmark for cyclists that used to choose other destinations to go cycling.
Sea and Mountain route for road bikes
The route starts in Cambrils and, progressively, gets into the inland of the Baix Camp region until it arrives to Priorat, an excellent wine region that holds a denomination of qualified origin (DOCa).
This circular route has a maximum altitude of 560 metres and 1.175 metres of cumulative elevation gain. Along the route, you will pass by the following towns:
Cambrils – Mont Roig del Camp - La Torre de Fontaubella – Marçà – Falset – Porrera – Duesaigües – Riudecanyes – Montbrió del Camp – and back to Cambrils.
Mountain passes you will find:
- 12 km. Average gradient of 4%.
- Coll de Falset. 4 km. Average gradient of 5%.
- Coll de la Teixeta. 6 km. Average gradient of 4%.

Cambrils
Is the gastronomic capital of Costa Daurada. A fishing village full of attractions, where you will be able to enjoy its fantastic restaurants, take a stroll on the beach or other leisure and cultural activities. Discover all its wonders at the Turisme de Cambrils home page.
Mont Roig del Camp
Olive oil lovers can visit the Museu de l’oli (Oil Museum) in Mont Roig del Camp, located at the old Casa solariega’s wine cellar, which belongs to the Solé Family and is a 1801 construction.
Falset
The Falset – Marçà cooperative winery (Bodega Cooperativa de Falset-Marçà) is one of the so-called “cathedral of wine” for its architectural majesty. It was designed by César Martinell, a disciple of Antoni Gaudí, who combined Modernism and Art Nouveau in the winery. Nowadays, the cooperative is still producing DO Montsant wines and extra virgin olive oil.
Porrera
In Porrera you can visit well-known private wineries like Clos Dominic o Sangenís i Vaqué to enjoy an exquisite wine tasting experience and to learn about its production process. A visit to Sant Antoni Abad Hermitage, built in the 17th century, and the Sant Joan Evangelista Hermitage from the 18th is also a good idea. As a curiosity, Porrera has a sundial route.
