The history of our Sport Village begins when, in May 2012, the Complex Esportiu Futbol Salou was inaugurated, a unique and pioneering facility in Catalonia that has 16 hectares and will help to consolidate a tourism product based around sports. In September of the same year, after five years of construction, the Mediterrània was inaugurated, a new area of Cambrils Park Resort with 170 apartments of category 4* Superior. These have all the equipment and benefits that an athlete may need. The new Mediterranean village means the final elimination of the plots, becoming the first apartment hotel in the area. After the inauguration of the Complex Esportiu Futbol Salou and the Mediterrània area, in Cambrils Park we began the journey as Sport Village, offering accommodation and services adapted for sportsmen during the winter months. Footballers and cyclists, mainly, hold their camps in the resort thus de-seasonalising the traditional tourist season. An extension of the restaurant La Masia to offer buffet service, and a new Fitness & Spa centre, allows us to give a full service during all months of the year, adapting to the client's needs at all times. Complex Esportiu Futbol Salou opens two football fields of hybrid grass. It is a field of natural grass reinforced with synthetic technology in the lower layer. These fields also work for high level teams as previously this technology was only in place at stadiums such as those of FC Barcelona or Real Madrid. The future is a given, more than for the facilities, for the sum of these plus the teams that visit us. Season after season we improve the services offered to athletes, and these respond by enjoying them, repeating, and spreading our fame worldwide. The experience gained guarantees us more and more athletes including those of the first division who choose us for their camps during the preseason period.
At the level of football, we have visited first division teams like the Helsingborgs IF, led by ex-Hulk Henrik Larsson; Or the Crystal Palace FC, team of the Premiere League. In cycling, teams and cyclists of world recognition have been able to enjoy the Sport Village such as Miguel Indurain, Claudio Chiapucci or Melcior Mauri; Who also has a Cycling Campus on the premises. During the last year, various teams of triathlon, rugby, fitness, dance or even the little known rollerski, have increased the variety of sports we welcome. In short, athletes who make Cambrils Park Sport Village a benchmark for sports tourism on the Costa Daurada.
